The problem with diet and why they are so damaging

Hi Reader

Welcome back to 1UP,
my weekly newsletter where I share all things health and mindsets to help you get stronger, feel younger and live longer.

Damage control

Are you a lifetime dieter Reader?

How many times have I heard "I've tried every diet under the sun?"

This breaks my heart. Meeting people who have been concerned with their weight for most of their lives and have gone from diet to diet.

First of all, let me tell you that there is another way.

The other way is a lifestyle.

Improving body composition: shedding the excess fat and building muscle really is the key to getting stronger, healthier and slimmer.

And you will need to eat less calorie for a time.

But there is a way to do that while putting in place a way to eat that is sustainable, enjoyable and that will not leave you hungry, constantly preoccupied with food and restore your relationship to your plate.

If you think this sounds too good to be true, that's because you bought into the lie that you need to be hungry to lose weight.

Dieting is not only damaging to your body - putting your weight on a yoyo -

Dieting is also damaging to your mind, your perceptions and the way you relate to yourself, food and your health goals.

You’re in a strange head space because of what dieting is doing to your emotions.

It trains you to follow rigid rules.

It trains you to expect perfect adherence.

It trains you to focus on the outcome instead of the process

But your weight is an indicator, not a dictator.

And a bad one at this, because what you need to monitor is BODY COMPOSITION.

What to do instead?

First, I want to offer you some powerful reframes. A few mindset shifts that will make all the difference.

You can get them in 🎧 Episode 11: Fundamental mindset shifts to break the cycle of starting over and stay consistent with weight loss

They will help you get out of the rut.

And then, consider finding yourself a coach, who does not care about the number on the scale, but someone who can help you create a lifestyle that will give you energy now and life back.

A lifestyle that will give you the foundation of health you can build on now and for decades to come.

Coaching with someone like me, who has a focus on longevity and who does not measure your success by the number on the scale, is a very different experience.

A coach will help you draw better understanding, will encourage you to give yourself some grace and will see your attempts as data points.

A coach will help you learn from what you're doing, adapt and leverage your personality, your strengths, and even your quirks.

If you are curious to explore what this could be like, I invite you to book a Belly-busting session.

Hope to meet you soon!
With love,

Jihane
